JPEG

 1)what these files are used for: JPEG is a used method of lossy compression (is when a person squishes a image down and this processes is irreversible) for digital images, particularly for those images by digital photography, these files may be used in photography

2)what  they display: JPEG display images at a lower quality to what any other file would, think of JPEG's 

as a massive jigsaw puzzle. they also loose quality to lossy compression 

3)How big can they be: the maximum file size measurement for a JPEG can only be inn KB this is due to the fact that they are programmed to be small and compact

4)Why would you use them: you would use JPEG's because they're small and easy to scale, this is also better on storage space because the computer doesn't have to load up a lot of file size 

GIF

1)What these files are used for: GIFs are small files that have bean LZW compressed (its basically an algorithm which makes the GIF loop  animated files that hace looped images with no sound and are a little less good quality 

2)What they display: they display small images or animation that loop and have no sound to them 

3)How big they can be: the maximum file size for a GIF is 15MB

4)Why would you use them: you would use these in websites advertising and on presentations

 PNG

1)What these files are used for: PNG files are a better alternative picture file than JPEG, they were made to replace GIFS and support lossless compression (lossless is when a file gets perfectly transferred file form)
2)What they display: PNGs display a good quality picture with put loosing or having to compensate or lower the amount of pixels they can use 
3)How big can they be: no specific size i found but they can hold 16 million colours max 
4)when would you use them: you would use them mainly in most powerpopints or just general work

TIFF

1)what these files are used for:TIFF files are a variety of colour formats and compression

2)what they display:TIFF files display high quality pictures 

3)how big can they be: they are mainly stored in GB 

4)when would you use them:they;re mainly used by photographers 

AIFF

 1)what are these used for: they are used to store audio files and are loaded in pulse code
 2)what they display:they display any noise that is recorded on them
 3)How big can they be: they store 10MB of data for every minute a recording is on it 
 4)when would you use them:you would use them to mainly record voices or short clips of music

FLA

1)what these files are used for: they are used for small websites and can have games made in it 

 2)what they display:they display small flash animations and images

3)how big can they be:they can hold up to 50MB of data each 
4)when would you use them: making websites or small games



SWF 

1)what these files are used for:SWF is a file extension for a Shockwave Flash file format created by Macromedia and now owned by Adobe. SWF stands for Small Web Format. SWF files can contain video and vector based animations and sound and are designed for efficient delivery over the web
2)what they display: they display small animations much like FLASH files
     3)how big can they be: relatively small file size 
      4)when would you use them: you would use them in flash

WAV

MPEG

1) What these files are: they are digitally compressed video files
